plans for week of nov 16
- Friesen Grade 5-6 class - Trepack percussion - have students pull objects from their desks to use as instruments
- I.e. flat rulers on tables for cymbols, side of rulers for rhythm stix, pencil boxes for hand drums, rulers on chair legs for tambourines, rulers on metal water bottles for triangles.
- split the class into parts and have them master one part. Then ask them to add an additional part and play it as well. Keep adding util they can play almost all parts
- Kindergarten - LAW class
- work on songs - "Like the beat of a drum" and "Can't Believe it's Christmas". The music is on the cart, lyric sheets below, recordings and demo videos below
- Hardy Grade 4s - same as Friesen class
- Weller Grade 1s - work on "Like the beat of a drum", and the Nutcracker March activity (have the students watch the video and Identify the 3 types of movement and 2 additional instruments that are being played. Work through the movement with them
- Herzog Grade 4s - Bring bin of BELLS on the cart - try the easy version of "We wish you a merry Christmas". (See below). They can trade bells and try different notes (clean bells after)
- Beaudry Grade 6 - BELLS - Trepack easy and then Hard (see below)
- Thompson Grade 5-6 - BELLS - Trepack easy and then Hard (see below)

- this Is a movement and basic instrument activity -all students can practice all 3 parts (bells, eggs, and movement) -eventually assign horses, egg shakers and bells to students for a "finished form" that can be videoed and shared with parents |

These are the instruments of choice as they are easy to clean.
Activity option 1
Start with the Percussion sequence, and then build towards the complete version using Boom Whackers. Octivator caps (caps that change the octave of the BW) will be necessary (back shelf by the inner entrance of the music room)
